The History of Legacy Community Health Services

Legacy Community Health Services has been serving the Greater Houston area for over 35 years. It was founded in 1981 as the Montrose Clinic, a small community-based organization that provided free HIV testing to gay men. As the HIV/AIDS epidemic grew, so did the organization, expanding its services to include medical care, mental health services, and social services for those affected by the disease.

In 2005, the Montrose Clinic changed its name to Legacy Community Health Services to reflect its broadened scope of services beyond HIV/AIDS care. Today, Legacy Community Health Services is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides comprehensive healthcare services to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.
